Who are we?

We understand the unique mental health challenges that BIPOC communities face, and we are committed to dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health while reconnecting our people to holistic wellness practices. We are the community we serve—Black parents, holistic professionals, artists, and healers—dedicated to making mental health and wellness accessible, culturally relevant, and preventative rather than reactive.Through immersive experiences, ongoing training, and an innovative approach, we are building a bridge to mental wellness that centers the needs and experiences of BIPOC individuals. Our Founders:
* A trauma-responsive mental health counselor and movement specialist with 20+ years of experience
* A spiritual life coach and content creator with 15+ years of building spiritually aligned communities
* A trauma-informed yoga teacher with 25+ years of cultivating community through healing practices
Together, we have created offerings grounded in care, healing, and empowerment for BIPOC individuals and families.

The Context We Live In

The Context
For many Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), the path to mental wellness is fraught with obstacles that prevent access to the care we deserve. Despite the growing conversation around mental health, there are still significant barriers that make it difficult for BIPOC communities to seek, receive, and maintain mental wellness support.
Limited Directories & Resources
Most mental health directories match users with professionals based on limited data, such as location, age, or general service type. These directories often lack community vetting, making it difficult for people to find professionals who understand the unique cultural needs of BIPOC individuals. This results in people being paired with helpers who may not be the right fit, leading to frustration, stagnation, and disengagement from the healing process.
Stigma Around Mental Health
Mental health stigma within BIPOC communities continues to be a major hurdle. Cultural norms and historical trauma have led many to believe that seeking help is a sign of weakness, or that therapy is only for severe cases. This stigma creates a significant barrier to preventative care, forcing many to wait until a crisis occurs before reaching out for help—if they reach out at all.
Difficulty in Finding the Right Match
Even when someone in the BIPOC community does seek help, finding a wellness helper who not only understands their lived experiences but is also capable of providing culturally competent care is challenging. Many existing mental health platforms fail to address the need for personalized care that takes into account race, culture, individual trauma histories, and preferred treatment methods.
Lack of Accessible & Affordable Care
Mental health care is often expensive, and for many BIPOC individuals, limited financial resources make it difficult to access the care they need. Insurance may not cover holistic or non-traditional wellness modalities, and community resources are often stretched thin, forcing people to compete for limited support.
Burnout Among Wellness Professionals
Wellness professionals, particularly those who serve BIPOC communities, are also facing unprecedented levels of burnout. Without adequate support, many therapists, counselors, and holistic healers experience fatigue, which can impact the quality of care they provide. Ironically, the helpers themselves are often left without the help they need to continue their vital work.

The Context We're Building

At Inspired Relief, we recognize that healing is a deeply personal journey, and no one solution fits all. That's why we offer a comprehensive, multifaceted approach to mental health and wellness, designed to empower and support our community from every angle.Immersive Experiences: “This is What Mental Health Looks Like”
Our signature event series, "This is What Mental Health Looks Like", is a powerful, immersive experience that allows participants to explore traditional and non-traditional wellness modalities.
Every aspect of the event fosters connection and helps attendees discover new ways to care for their mental health, whether they are in the midst of a crisis or seeking preventative wellness.Vetting Process & Ongoing Helper Training
Inspired Relief is dedicated to the well-being of ALL of our community, be they seekers and/or helper. At the core of our mission is ensuring that our wellness helpers—therapists, counselors, holistic healers, etc.—are not only highly skilled but also well-supported in their own healing journey.
To prevent burnout and ensure that our helpers continue to provide exceptional care, we conduct ongoing, semester-long training programs. These programs are designed to:* Equip helpers with new therapeutic tools and approaches.
* Provide peer-to-peer support to ensure they are emotionally cared for.
* Offer specialized training in trauma-responsive, culturally supportive care for BIPOC communities.
As part of our vetting process, each helper in our network undergoes thorough evaluation and continuous development. We believe that helpers need help too—and by providing resources for our helpers, we help them remain grounded, effective, and resilient in their roles. This vetting and training process ensures that when you seek help through Inspired Relief, you are connecting with wellness professionals who are not only experienced but holistically supported in their own well-being.Future Tools & Technological Integration
While our immersive events and wellness community are beginning to make an impact, we are also developing cutting-edge technological tools to further bridge the gap between seekers and helpers. Our tools will be designed to:
* Connect users with vetted, local wellness helpers.
* Offer personalized AI-powered recommendations based on the user’s unique needs, preferences, and experiences.
* Provide ongoing support and community-building opportunities for both wellness seekers and helpers.
By combining technology with human-centered care, we’re creating an ecosystem where BIPOC individuals can access tailored mental health support, ensuring they are matched with the right helpers at the right time.

this is what mental health looks like

Our signature event series, "This is What Mental Health Looks Like", is a powerful, immersive experience that allows participants to explore traditional and non-traditional wellness modalities.Through interactive installations, workshops, spoken word, stand-up comedy, and visual arts, our guests are introduced to a variety of healing practices such as therapy, sound healing, art therapy, and more. These events break down barriers by letting our community directly witness peers with lived experience, rather than third hand through often pejorative filters, as well as experience first hand different paths to wellness in supportive, BIPOC-centered and held space. Each event fosters connection and helps attendees discover new ways to care for their mental health, whether they are in the midst of a crisis or seeking wellness proactively. We believe that mental health isn't a one-size-fits-all journey, and our immersive events reflect that belief.
